Navigation can be very frustrating when you are faced with foul weather .It may seem a better idea to simply avoid bad weather, but guaranteed good weather in the British mountains is quite rare.
Rock Steady has developed a course to cater for those individuals who need help in there basic navigation skills and only have a day at there disposal
The course will cover the techniques you require to become a successful navigator and provide you with the skills to be taken away to practice and refine what you have learned
A full practical day will be spent on the low level hills of the Lake District

Includes training and the following

Types of Maps

Interpreting map symbols, (Fence Wall Stream etc)

Grid references

Compass use

Estimating time and distance using pacing and timings

Taking bearings etc

Training and Assessment to Bronze NNAS standard. Certificate and badge for successful candidates assessed to Bronze level

If you want to attend the course but do not require the certificate or cloth badge then you do not need to be assessed

What is the NNSA?     The National Navigation Award Scheme is a national recognised structure for the provision of navigation training courses. It is arranged into 3 levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The 1 day course covers the Bronze award which covers navigation techniques using linear features with the use of compass work.
